A Catholic cemetery is an extension of parish life, where those who have worshipped and prayed together in life now await the resurrection of the body in death. They are a vital part of our Church’s heritage of caring for and burying the bodies of the dead in blessed ground; one of the Corporal Works of Mercy.
Our mission at Calvary Cemetery Duluth is to provide a fitting resting place for our beloved dead, in a sacred place of prayer, beauty and peace. A place where those who mourn can find comfort while reflecting on their Faith in God, Hope in the Resurrection and everlasting life for those they Love.
On July 15, 2017 a very special service took place at Calvary Cemetery when United States Marine Corps Sergeant James Joseph Hubert, killed in the Battle of Tarawa, was repatriated home to Duluth. His remains were interred in the Soldier's Rest area of the cemetery.
